In early 2006 Tony who ususally comes up with wacko ideas finally got a good one and decided that it would be a good thing to bike the Oregon Coast after listening to a motivational speaker who did the same thing at age 65. It was a great idea except that he had put his bike away in his late teens and could no longer find it. He was unsure how he could do the 640km to to bottom ride in his mid 40s in probably not so great of shape.. At age 45 he approached 4 of his buddies, to join him creating the group of 5 now know as the Canadian 5.
We have completed 19 consecutive trips since 2006 and are looking forward to this amazing milestone of riding together for 20 years. We like to share some of them with you.
We've put this website together for a few reasons. The first being a place our riders can re-visit each of our trips again with pictures and video to share them with others. The second purpose is to encourage other would-be riders to take on this challenge of dusting off your bike, finding a few friends as crazy as you to get back in shape to explore this wonderful world God has made fo us to enjoy.
We've put together some suggestings on how you can begin your journey back on your bike, back into shape and spending some quality time with your buds. Or if you are already a biker some helpful tips to push yourself into other routes in North America.
